PKF Fasselt, our member firm in Germany, presented the FASSELT sponsorship award to six graduates from the University of Duisburg-Essen.

The sponsorship prize has been awarded annually over the last two decades in recognition of students’ outstanding work in the fields of business taxation, accounting, auditing and controls. Each prizewinner receives an award of EUR 1,000 and is invited to attend a prize-giving ceremony at the University of Duisburg-Essen.

The awards ceremony last month featured guest speaker, Dr Florian Funck, chief financial officer of Franz Haniel & Cie. GmbH, who used his keynote speech to encourage the award winners to think beyond the boundaries of their subjects. The ceremony was also attended by senior members of the university.

Dr Marian Ellerich, partner at PKF Fasselt’s Duisburg office, has championed the FASSELT award since its inception in 2001. He explains, ‘The event is particularly important to our society and also to me personally. With the FASSELT sponsorship award, we would like to promote young academics in the region and recognise outstanding achievements by university graduates.’
